Så fungerar det

Vi vill berätta om vår skola för någon i ett annat land. Börja med att svara på det hen har frågat. Sedan berättar du om din dag i ordning: School starts at … We have lunch at … Säg också vad du tycker: My favourite subject is … because …

Jämför gärna: We don't have to wear a uniform, but … Have to betyder måste och not allowed to betyder får inte. Ställ en fråga tillbaka på slutet, så fortsätter samtalet.

We're not allowed to use our phones in class. Det betyder: vi får inte använda mobilerna på lektionerna.

An email from Grace

Hi there, My name is Grace and I'm in Year 8 at a school in Manchester. This term my class is going to have email friends in Sweden, so here is my first email! I'll tell you about my school day. I get up at seven and put on my uniform: a black blazer, a white shirt, a tie with green and blue stripes and black trousers. I don't love the tie, but it's OK. School starts at ten to nine with registration, when our form tutor checks that everyone is there. We have five lessons a day, and each lesson is an hour long. My favourite subjects are drama and science. I'm not very good at French, but I'm trying. At lunch most people eat in the canteen, but I usually bring a packed lunch because I'm vegetarian and the choice isn't great. We're not allowed to use our phones during the day. They have to stay in our bags, and if a teacher sees one, they keep it until the end of the day! School finishes at twenty past three. On Mondays I stay for the drama club. What is a school day like for you? Do you really call your teachers by their first names? Bye for now, Grace
