Write a short story
Egen text · Åk 4–9
Läs novellen om en natt i en stuga. Skriv sedan en egen kort berättelse med spänning och ett slut, och förbättra den.
Så fungerar det
Vi vill skriva en berättelse som håller läsaren kvar. Början visar var och när: It was a cold night in November. Was walking och were sitting, pågående dåtid, beskriver vad som höll på när något hände: I was reading when the lights went out.
Spänning bygger vi med korta meningar och ljud: Silence. Then a knock. Slutet får gärna överraska. Bestäm slutet innan du skriver, så vet du vart berättelsen är på väg. Läs den högt efteråt och hör om tempot fungerar.
We were eating dinner when somebody knocked on the window. Det betyder: vi höll på att äta middag när någon knackade på fönstret.
The cabin
It was the last night of our week at the cabin. Dad and my little brother, Sam, were asleep, and the only sound was the rain on the roof. I was sitting by the fire with a book, but I wasn't really reading. I was listening. Since the first evening, strange things had happened. Food disappeared from the kitchen. A towel that I had hung outside was lying in the mud. And every night, at about midnight, there was a scratching sound under the floor. At five to twelve I put down my book. The fire was dying, and the room was getting cold. Then it started. Scratch. Scratch. Scratch. It was louder than before, and it was moving towards the kitchen. My heart was beating so hard that I could hear it. I picked up the torch and walked slowly across the room. The kitchen door was half open. Something was moving behind it. I counted to three, pushed the door and switched on the torch. Two small, shining eyes looked back at me. It was a hedgehog. It was sitting in the middle of the floor, eating the last of our cheese, and it didn't look scared at all. Behind the cupboard I could see a hole in the old wooden wall, just big enough for it to squeeze through. I laughed so loudly that I woke up Dad. He came into the kitchen in his pyjamas, saw the hedgehog and shook his head. "So that's who ate my chocolate," he said. The next morning we fixed the hole, but we left a bowl of water outside the door. Just in case our visitor came back.
