Läs en guide till Whitby, en stad vid havet. Skriv sedan en kort guide till en stad du känner, eller en du hittar på, och förbättra den.
Så fungerar det
Vi vill beskriva en plats för någon som aldrig har varit där. There is och there are säger vad som finns: There's a big park. There are lots of shops. There isn't a cinema säger vad som saknas.
Säg också var saker ligger: next to, opposite, near. Avsluta med ett tips till läsaren: You should visit the harbour. Du får skriva om din egen stad eller hitta på en, så du bestämmer vad du berättar.
There's a castle on the hill and there are lots of cafés. Det betyder: det finns ett slott på kullen och det finns massor av kaféer.
A visit to Whitby
Whitby is a small town on the north-east coast of England. About thirteen thousand people live there. It's quiet in winter, but in summer it's full of visitors. The town has a river in the middle and two sides, the east and the west. On the east side there are narrow streets with old houses, little shops and cafés. If you climb the 199 steps, you can see the ruins of an old abbey on the hill. The view of the sea and the red roofs is beautiful. On the west side there's a long sandy beach, a museum and a park with a playground. There are lots of fish and chip shops near the harbour. People say Whitby has the best fish and chips in England! There isn't a big shopping centre, and there isn't a cinema, so on rainy days there isn't much to do. But there's a small swimming pool, and the museum is interesting. It has old boats, maps and a whale skeleton. You can get to Whitby by train or by bus. The journey from York takes about two hours. You should visit Whitby in spring or summer. Don't forget your camera, and watch out for the seagulls. They love chips too!
